Dr Peter studied medicine at the University of Cape Town and graduated class of 1989.
Thereafter he completed his Diploma in child health in 1992. After his internship, he gained experience in anaesthesia, emergency medicine and intensive care before becoming a registrar in general surgery and then anaesthesia at Groote Schuur Hospital. He left government practice in 1996.
He established a solo GP anaesthetic practice and worked extensively (but not exclusively) at Milnerton Mediclinic, where he developed lists with many attending surgeons and covered the majority of after hours and emergency anaesthetics performed there.
Together with Dr Claire Zondagh, he engaged with the Netcare Group to open an in-house anaesthetic practice at the then, yet to be built Netcare Blaauwberg Hospital, a then relatively new concept in private practice in Cape Town.
This project culminated in the formation of ATLANTIC ANAESTHETICS and he was one of our founding members in 2007. He is interested in anaesthesia for endovascular surgery, ENT surgery and anaesthesia for Da Vinci robotic endoscopic surgery.
In his free time Peter is a avid cyclist and family man.
