Dr Mariesa Nock grew up in Bloemfontein and completed her tertiary education at the University of the Free State where she graduated MBChB in 2004.
She completed her Diploma in Anaesthesia (DA) in 2008 while working at Ngwelezana Hospital in Kwazulu Natal.
Mariesa then worked as a General Practitioner in Canada (Kamloops, British Columbia) for a few years, where she completed the Licentiate of Medical Council of Canada exams (LMCC). She returned to South Africa to be closer to home and family in 2011.
Mariesa started her specialist training at the University of Cape Town in 2013. She completed her Masters in Medicine (MMed) dissertation titled ‘Complex regional pain syndrome in children’ in 2016 and the Fellowship of the College of Anaesthesiologists degree in 2017. After qualifying she took up a specialist post at New Somerset Hospital, where she worked for four years, completing further rotations in Intensive Care and Paediatric Anaesthesia.
Mariesa enjoys all areas of Anaesthesia and her special interests are: Paediatrics and Neonatal surgery, Regional anaesthesia, Neurosurgery and Ear Nose and Throat surgery.
Mariesa is married to Ryan, they have three girls and live in Melkbosstrand. In her free time she enjoys running and splashing in the waves with the kids.
